“Traian Vuia" Timișoara International Airport is the 4th largest
airport in Romania. Air travel complements road and rail links to
European urban centres and is considered a back-up airport for
Bucharest, Budapest and Belgrade airports. The development of the
airport infrastructure is ongoing.
In 2019, before the pandemic, the traffic at "Traian Vuia" Timișoara
Airport increased by 5.1% compared to the previous year, when
1,595,012 passengers travelled to / from Timișoara airport. It is
1.6 M passengers in 2019 expected that 2022 will exceed 2019 in terms of number of
on Traian Vuia Airport passengers.This confirms the upward trend in air traffic and creates
the conditions for maintaining a positive trend in the coming years.
The aim is to maintain its leading status by developing more direct
connections, attracting new flight operators and developing the
airport's infrastructure and services.
